Is there a minimum length of time I can book you for?

Yes, If the event is not within 10miles of St Combs then a minimum of 2 hours is required.

Do you take bookings for midweek parties?

Yes, I take bookings for every day of the week. Weekends are the busiest time in an entertainer's world so please book in early to avoid disappointment if it is a weekend you want.

How far in advance do you think I should book?

There is no set rule for this, we book up on a first come first served basis. Some people book 4 or 5 weeks ahead and others leave it to the week before to try and find an entertainer.

Do you offer discount?

Yes, if you book a party to take place Monday - Friday we will offer you 10% discount.

Do I need a deposit to book you?

Yes. a £30 Booking fee is required to be paid within 3 days of returning your signed booking form. The booking will not be secure until both the booking fee and form have been returned. This is a non refundable fee and will go towards the total cost of the booking.

All enquiries can be put to us here.

What if I need to cancel?

The booking fee is non refundable, but it is taken off the final amount payable two weeks prior to the party or event. If payment has been made in full at time of cancellation then I am happy to reschedule for a date suitable for both parties. Any further refunds will be at the disgretion of Colour Magic FX.

What do I need to provide?

We just ask that there is a corner somewhere out of the way but easy to see for us to set up. We supply all equipment, including a Gala Tent for outdoor bookings (at an additional fee of £25).

How long does the face painting take?

If we are painting full faces we give a guideline time of 6 minutes per person, as a minimum. We would then estimate that we can get through about 10 people per hour, if you are factoring in the transition and choosing period between each person. If it is smaller and more simple pictures being painted onto hands and cheeks then we estimate it taking about 3 minute per person and getting through about 20 people in an hour.

Should we go for full face art or simpler hand/cheek art?

If the face painting is to take up part of the entertaining time, then most definitely only go for hand/cheek art. That way everyone gets something quick and feels special and you can get on with organised group fun as soon as possible. For busy events, I will number the children's hands so that they can come back when called, thus enjoying the party and not queuing. If you are planning more of a roaming party plan, that is less structured, then full face art gives a nicer touch to the celebrations.

What paints do you use?

We use a number of high quality paints and glitters such as Snazaroo, Global, Diamond FX, Mehron, Cameleon and Tag. They are a well renowned and respected companies that for many years has been turning out paints that comply with the strictest toy and cosmetic regulations. They are hypoallergenic, water-based and easily removed with soap and water.

How do you clean your brushes?

Throughout a job we change the water cups and sponges that we use at regular intervals. Once the job is complete the brushes and sponges are all thoroughly cleaned in warm soapy water, rinsed off and then allowed to dry naturally.

What about kids with Eczema, Chicken Pox or other skin conditions?

Anyone with an apparent skin complaint e.g Eczema, Chicken Pox, Conjunctivitis, Cuts, Bruises and anyone who seems to be unwell will  not be allowed to have their faces painted. It is up to you or the child’s guardian to inform us of these as we take no responsibility for reactions at anytime.

How do I get the Paint / Glitter Tattoos off?

Face paint is water based; you do not need special cleansers to remove it.  Normal soap and water will work, and using a sponge or cloth is most effective.  Some colours may still be slightly visible after washing, so a second wash may be needed. The most effective way to remove the paint is to first lather soap into your hands and wipe in circular motions over the face before using a wet cloth to wash it off.

Glitter tattoos can be removed with baby oil and a cloth / cotton wool ball.  They wear off naturally in about a week, depending on where they are placed.
